Up is one of the most touching and endearing Pixar films I've seen. It's entertaining and funny while being simultaneously heartwarming for adults, too. In this title sequence, I used a combination of video footage and animated illustrations. I wanted to emphasize the characters and their importance with detailed drawing animations in a background of moving balloons.
Here is a quick look at some of the drawings featured in this animated title sequence! I drew everything featured in this video except for the cloud footage. There is a combination of tweening and frame by frame animation in this sequence. With the characters, I drew them several times, making a quick loop of the frames to make them move.
I wanted the scenes to be dreamy but pop. Adding less detail on the larger scenes like the waterfall and the mass of balloons emphasizes the detail in the characters. The characters make Up such a fantastic film. Therefore, they are to be the focus of this title sequence.
